One of the great things about living in the Pacific Northwest is getting to see the tulips in the fields at Mount Vernon, Washington. This year the display was late blooming due to the cold weather. Once the tulips did bloom they looked just great. Judge for yourself from the attached photos.

Planning your Backyard using Garden Accent Decor

Expand Your Backyard or Garden Using Garden Decor Art

Your yard is an extension of the inside of your home. Your yard deserves your attention and focus too.

Garden Decor Art is a great way to put personality, beauty and creativity in your outdoors. There are many unique items to choose from. Before you start, a few basic planning steps are important.

Theme:
First choose a topic you want to focus on. Do you love wild animals, or do you prefer domestic animals, or would you choose only birds or dogs?

You may have an existing hobby you want to expand on or you may be crazy about items made of copper, or bamboo.

Suppose you selected birds. Now decide if you want to display whimsical birds or realistic ones.

Theme area:
Next is the task of choosing a portion of your yard to start your design. You could start with your entry door. Or you could choose the driveway entry, a seating area, or the view from your kitchen window or dining room window.

To help you make this decision, think about some priorities. If all the houses on your street are pretty similar, you may want to start at the drive way. If you have several visitors come to your front door, you could use the entry as a theme area. On the other hand, if you really enjoy peaceful personal time looking out your dining room window, improving the view and providing more interesting sights would be good.

Focus area:
Let’s use the dining room view for our plan. When you are seated in your favorite location, notice what comes into view. Is there a fence or natural border? Are there trees and shrubs and what is their size range? Is there a combination of evergreen trees and shrubs or only deciduous trees (the ones that loose their leaves in the fall)? Is there an existing seating area in your view? Are there arbors, arches, or fountains already in your hardscape?

As a beginning project, let’s assume a seating area and table are in full view and you want a bit more interest and character there. Do you want a contemporary style, rustic, Asian or another style? What color and composition is your existing furniture?

As an example, let’s say it is a contemporary style with black metal chairs with neutral cushions and a glass top table. You really would like to add some color to your view along with more interest.

Let’s choose our theme as decorative bird houses and our theme color as blue. Decorative birdhouses are in good supply and there are a nice range of options. Blue is a great color as it picks up the sky, it is a calming color, and virtually all plants and flowers will be complimentary. Blue gives you a great base to build up on over time.

Budget:
Your Garden Decor Art project can begin for less than $100.00. You can select
Lifeguard Station Bird House and Jewel Tone Flower Pot Trio from http://www.gardenaccentheaven.com/

Lifeguard Station Birdhouse for your table with the blue (azure) pot beside it, planted with a variety of low succulent plants. The birdhouse and the azure pot are small enough to sit on the table and be a conversation point without visual interference.

Three additional birdhouses would be Country Charmer, Patchwork and Flower Shop, all three which can also be ordered from http://www.gardenaccentheaven.com/, to be hung in close proximity to each other in a nearby tree, tall shrub, arbor, or on a Shepard’s hook.

You now have the begining of a very unique and attractive backyard that you will be proud of and you can tell everyone that you did it all by yourself!
